Explore the dynamic knowledge hub of the Global South Nexus (GSN). GSN has already organised one national and two international conferences in Australia and India, focusing on the Global South Challenges. Along with interested organisations in the Global South, we look forward to collaborating and co-hosting international conferences, seminars, and workshops in the future that are impactful and have tangible impacts in the Global South. Please feel free to explore our past events and UNCTAD-SMEP best practices in the Global South.

We welcome any Global South Best Practices to share with us and showcase here with our partners and collaborators.

International Conferences

The 2nd GSN International Conference on

“Localising SDGs for Built Environment & Communities: A North-South Exchange”,

24-25 November 2022, Perth, Australia

The GSN 2022 conference explores how the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be translated into practical, local solutions for more sustainable cities and communities. It fosters North-South dialogue, encouraging knowledge exchange and innovation in urban development.

As cities strive for equity, efficiency, safety, and livability, they face challenges like limited funding and governance gaps—especially in the Global South, where poverty, resource scarcity, and political instability add further pressure. Yet, strong networks of NGOs and community groups continue to drive impactful, grassroots innovation.

GSN 2022 invites critical conversations around:

  • Enhancing resilience through local action

  • Integrating urban ecosystems into sustainable design

  • Co-producing solutions with communities

  • Measuring and benchmarking sustainability progress
